The Washington D.C. Temple is the 18th constructed temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dedicated in 1974, it was the first temple built by the church east of the Mississippi River since 1846. It's modern six-spire design was intended to be similar in style and form to the Salt Lake Temple so that it would be easily recognized as a temple of the Church. Three towers each on the east and west represent the Melchizedek and Aaronic priesthoods.

The ornament is made of bright stainless steel and is 7.1 cm (2.8 inches) in diameter by 1 mm (0.04 inches) thick. The ornament comes with a 13 cm (5.1 inch) silver-colored string loop for convenient hanging from Christmas trees. The ornament comes protected by a folded-envelope-style card packaging.
